The families - bromeliaceae

Habitat: subtropical and tropical America.
Description: a family of monocotyledonous, mostly herbaceous plants; some genera are epiphytic. They have a short stem and leaves arranged in a rosette. The floral spikes may have colourful bracts. The fruits can be either berries or capsules and carry seeds, often winged, with albumen.
Soil: fertile mix. Epiphytic species are best grown in a mix of peat, composted chestnut tree wood and sand; alternatively, use a substrate for epiphytic orchids.
Water: average.
Location: filtered or indirect light.
Temperature: the minimum temperature recommended is between 12 and 14°C (54-57°F).
Cultivation tips: be careful not to let the soil become too dry, even in the winter , otherwise they may wither. They enjoy warm and humid conditions.
Main genera of Bromeliaceae: Abromeitiella, Billbergia, Dyckia, Hechtia, Puya, Tillandsia.
