Habitat: from Texas to northern Mexico.
Description: tiny, globular plants covered with short white spines. The diurnal flowers are borne at the centre of the apical crown during the summer. They were formerly grouped under the genus Mammillaria.
Soil: basic mix with the addition of finely crushed oyster shells.
Location: grow in a sunny and warm site.
Temperature: minimum temperature of 8°C (46°F).
Water: average, but only from April to August.
Cultivation tips: they’re slow-growing, self-sterile, beautiful plants.
Main species: E. micromeris, produces offsets from the stem. Grow in full sun, water every 10 days; min. 5°C (41°F). Vars: E.  micromeris bokei; E. micromeris greggii. E. pachyrhiza.
