Habitat:
Arizona, Mexico.
Description: a group of columnar, upright cacti branching from the
base that form greenish shrub-like structures. They have prominent ribs and
large woolly areoles. The spines are bristly and recurved. The nocturnal
pink flowers appear in the summer. It has been moved into the genus
Pachycereus.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: it requires full sun.
Temperature: minimum temperature of 6°C (43°F).
Water: average, but add one more week to the time that should pass
between one watering and the next.
Cultivation tips: slow-growing; propagate from seed, cuttings or
offsets.
Main species: L. gatesii; L. schottii., syn. Pilocereus s.,
the monstrose form is much sought after.
