CD-Succulent plants

Habitat: Oaxaca, Puebla, southern Mexico.
Description: tree-like cacti with light green stems marked by 7-12 triangular ribs. The areoles are 3-4 mm (0.1-0.15 in) wide and bear from 3 to 8 radial spines with a whitish or grayish hue; in some species central spines are also present. The small, diurnal flowers are white with a tinge of yellow and are produced in the summer. They are followed by red, edible fruits, 2-4 cm (0.8-1.6 in) in diameter. They were formerly included first in Lemaireocereus, then in Myrtillocactus; they are now classified as a genus of their own.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: they require full sun.
Temperature: keep the minimum temperature around 8°C (46°F).
Water: average but controlled.
Cultivation tips: easy; waterlogging may cause root rot. They make a good rootstock.
Main species: P. Chende; P.Chichipe.
