Habitat: central and
southern Mexico.
Description: a group of cacti having greenish, slender stems that
show either climbing or upright and shrub-like habit. The roots may be
tuberous and the spines are thin and short. Diurnal flowers are borne in the
summer. It is included in Echinocereus.
Soil: 40% leaf mould, 10% peat and 50% sand.
Location: grow in indirect light.
Temperature: minimum temperature of 6°C (43°F).
Water: average.
Cultivation tips: They are usually grafted and require rather large
containers. Propagate from seed or cutting.
Main species: W. poselgeri; W. viperina; W. albiflora; W. striata.
