Cactus e Dintorni - Cactus Planet - sulcorebutia

Habitat: Bolivian mountains, between 2000 and 4000 metres (6500-13000 ft).
Description: a genus of small, globular plants that may form clusters; the areoles, usually with pectinate spines, are vertically elongated. In the summer, self-sterile flowers open during the day, even on young specimens. Some have a taproot. It has recently been moved under Rebutia.
Soil: fertile mix.
Location: full sun especially in the wintertime. They resent excessive heat, so grow under filtered light in a ventilated site during the warmer months.
Temperature: it would be ideal to maintain the high constantly around 18-20° (64-68°F) while the winter minimum can drop near freezing. However, it’s best to keep the lows around 5-6°C (41-43°).
Water: water moderately starting at the beginning of April until the end of the summer. Stop watering in early October.
Cultivation tips: easy; repot every two years and raise from seed or propagate by cuttings taken in the summer. Apply fertilizer with microelements three times during the growing period. Watch out for spider mites.
