Habitat: India, South Africa,Transvaal region, Namibia.
Description: these woody or herbaceous plants often show a climbing habit and may contain latex. They generally have a large rhizome or caudex. Bell-shaped, hermaphrodite flowers appear in mid or late summer. The seeds are carried in capsules which may be fleshy.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: partial shade.
Temperature: keep the minimum around 10°C (50°F).
Water: abundant during the growing period so that the leaves won’t wither. Cease watering in the autumn when leaves start dropping.
Cultivation tips: it is advisable that the aerial part of tuberous and caulescent species be lifted from the groung in order to expose the stem to air circulation. Propagate from seed.
