Habitat: Africa and Madagascar.
Description: these dicotyledonous plants can be sarmentose or climbers by means of tendrils, monoecious or dioecious. The leaves are alternate and deciduous. Small, pentamerous flowers are borne in racemes on the current year’s growth. The fruits are berry-like, fleshy with few seeds containing a large quantity of albumen.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: choose a bright site.  
Temperature: minimum temperature of 10°C (50°F).
Water: average.
Cultivation tips: relatively easy; they can be treated like most indoor plants. Their period of growth may be inverted. Propagate from seed or cutting.
